Traditionally used in Buddhist practice, mala beads are a simple tool for supporting meditation, mantra recitation and mindful awareness.
Each mala is made with 108 natural stone beads, the traditional number used for counting repetitions of a mantra or prayer. Moving through the beads one by one can help maintain attention and provide a gentle physical rhythm to practice.
Within Tibetan Buddhist traditions, mantra recitation is not simply about repetition, but can form part of a wider practice of presence, awareness and familiarisation with the mind. A mala can be held quietly in the hand as a practical companion to this practice.
Our malas are available in a selection of natural stones, each with its own individual colour, markings and character. Because the stones are natural, no two malas will be exactly alike.
